Shangri-La Frontier - Plot Summary
Rakurou Hizutome, a high school student, has an unusual pastime: he enjoys playing games that are poorly designed, often with unbalanced mechanics and so many glitches that they can be nearly impossible to enjoy. Those few who share his interest might know him as Sunraku, his in-game name. Looking for something different after his recent gaming experiences, Rakurou decides to try Shangri-La Frontier, a popular virtual reality game that has received a lot of positive feedback.
As he starts the game, Rakurou makes the choice to sell most of his initial gear to earn some extra coins, leaving himself with just a pair of boxers, a bird mask, and a few weapons. He quickly becomes engrossed as he carefully levels up his character. However, when he faces off against some menacing monsters, he starts to realize that he might have underestimated the difficulties that come with a game that has gained mainstream popularity. As he moves forward, Rakurou draws on all the skills he has built up from his past gaming experiences. Soon enough, Sunraku's unique approach to the game makes waves in Shangri-La Frontier.
